This is legit my life right now.
Sorry, mom, I didn’t make the bed…
The pod that contains our bed arrives on Thursday. Vegas arrives… we’re not sure yet. This place is EMPTY! Thankfully I have good friends with air mattresses and ladders, and a mom that is willing to spend the entire weekend painting the whole downstairs of my new place. It went from red to this!
I also started my new job, which is really nice for several reasons. It gives me somewhere to be other than this empty place, the people are awesome, they have TONS of snacks and La Croix, they provide lunch 3x a week, and there’s a gym. All things considered, I’m set up pretty well! I just really, really miss Vegas.
Sooooo…. this is my first WIAW in ATL. It’s pretty decent considering there’s NO food in my house. Or even a fork, for that matter.
Be sure to link up to Jenn’s WIAW baby at the bottom!
Breakfast:
I made my solo morning cocktails and headed out to work. I can walk to work, which is really nice.
Then I had a protein bar and a La Croix at the office. Key Lime La Croix is delicious, btw.
Lunch:
The first 3 days of the week, lunch is brought in to the office. And it’s really good!!! Yesterday was Mediterranean food – pita, hummus, and beef and chicken shawarma. Plus more La Croix.
Dinner:
Mom texted to see if I wanted to go to dinner. Obviously, I did! She met me at my place and we walked down the street a place where we had my favorite dinner – a charcuterie.

The excitement is wearing off… I really can’t wait for us to be settled in one place.
Does your office have snacks?
What’s your favorite La Croix flavor?
Heather McClees says
So excited for you! Love your new place… plus it’s so fun you can hang out with your mom more now! Hope you are loving your job. Will have to email you ASAP!
Laura says
Thank you! I’m really happy to be back home.
Jess @ Jessica Cording Nutrition says
Congrats on the move and the new place! And thank god for moms.
Patrick@looneyforfood.com says
It must be so very cool to be back home! Sounds like the new job is off to a good start, food and a gym is not bad. Hope Vegas can join you soon and you get some forks. LOL
Laura says
I’m really, really loving the job. It’s making being apart of Vegas a little more tolerable!
Deborah Brooks says
Moving is always hard and exhausting! That’s great that you have healthy lunches brought into work for you. Trying to join the WIAW but my link seems to be stuck somewhere!
Laura says
They do a really good job of that. They also make sure there are veggie-friendly and GF options, which is really cool.
Cora says
Ohhhhh the messiness of moving! I say embrace it. How often do you get to go forkless and throw all your (very few) belongings on the floor because there’s no where else for them to go…
That being said, I do hope Vegas can join you soon.
And um, can I have your job? It sounds ballin. Lunch three days a week is huge!
Laura says
It’s IS a pretty ballin’ job! The snacks are amazing too. 🙂
Elizabeth at Reserved for Running says
Hi! I’m new to your blog and I’m really excited to have a new source for recipes and fitness motivation. I hate to say it, but I am not a La Croix fan. I keep it simple with Orange Canada Dry!
Laura says
Welcome! Sorry I’m super slow on replies… it’s been crazy lately. 🙂
Emily Swanson says
My mama is such a gift from God; I was thinking about that yesterday!
Laura says
We’re so lucky to have amazing moms!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
Moving is so much work! I really hope to never have to do it again, but that may be changing in the next year or two. Hopefully, Vegas will be with you soon!
Laura says
I don’t recommend it… but I’m almost used to it at this point. *sigh*
Kate says
the new job has some awesome perks!
Joann @ Woman in Real Life says
Your new place looks so pretty! And I love the idea of a job that supplies food!!!
Laura says
Thanks! Having food at work definitely made my life a ton easier these past few weeks.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets says
Soon you’ll have furniture again and more importantly, a wife.
I’m glad you’re digging the new job.
Laura says
Welp. Got the furniture.
Anne Murphy says
The house looks lovely – it will be so exciting when you have furniture! (And your wife – I can’t moving without Rich – it was hard enough with him!)
Laura says
Thanks! I’m really pretty lost withouht her. Hopefully soon!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape says
Oh I really do hope Vegas gets to you sooner rather than later. When David is away I always feel like a part of me is missing. But a exciting new job will at least keep you busy and focused and talk about job perks, wow!!
I really hope the La Croix madness spreads over to Australia. It amazes me it hasn’t, it’s the perfect product for a hot country like this!
Laura says
That’s exactly how I feel! The worst part is not having a date… no end in sight. UGH. At least she’s coming to visit this week.
There’s nothing like a La Croix on a hot day. it’s blown up here… I’m sure it’ll be to you soon!
Mary says
And the adventure begins! Hello Atlanta. I already love your new place. I really hope Vegas gets there soon. I miss her. Congrats on the new Job! That’s super exciting. Can you believe I’ve never had La Croix before?? I know I know it’s a crime. Is that a falafel? Oh yes, it is. I love when you have charcuterie for dinner 🙂 Is that a sugared rim martini I spy in the background! TAsty
Laura says
Thank you!!! And WHAT??? You’ve never had La Croix??? I drink like 5 of them a day. LOL!
Yes, it was a falafel! We have Greek food 3x last week and I was in heaven. The drink was a blue cheese olive martini. I think the oil from the olive juice must have made it look sugared? Oddly, I love to eat sweets but I cannot drink them.
Allie says
This too shall pass! It must be hard without Vegas but hope she joins you soon!! At least you have your mom, tons of amazing food and LeCroix. I mean really…:-)
Also, could you please put together a menu for post stomach flu? I’m dying over here with plain bagels and bananas.
Laura says
Everyone has had the flu around here! It’s been a few years, but the last time I got the flu I was 30 years old… and I called my mommy to come get me. LOL! I’m a wuss when it comes to puking. She fed me bananas and kombucha. The kombucha really helped, actually.
Nicole @ Laughing My Abs Off says
Hoping you and Vegas will be reunited before long! Congrats on the move, and the job sounds SWEET! What do you do?
Also, charcuterie boards are great! (except the olives) 😉
Laura says
Thanks! I really love the company. I’m in marketing – managing content for the company.
Lynn @ Oh-So Yummy says
back to your roots again! sounds like your work place caters lunch three times a week? we get occasional lunch-and-learns so i guess that works also. i am having trouble remembering what i ate because i’ve been working extra hours. sometimes my meals are a quick snack. i’ll try to write something down for the next WIAW! =P
Laura says
The 3x/week lunches have been amazing. Especially since I haven’t had a kitchen! I love lunch and learns too. It’s a great way for companies to do continuing ed.
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness says
It sounds like your new job comes with some perks! I love Mediterranean food.
From what I’ve seen of your new place, it looks really cute! Moving is such a tedious process, but you’ll get settled eventually…and your wifey will join you at some point – hopefully soon! 🙂
Laura says
It’s been an ordeal! Hopefully, you’ll be in ATL one day and I can show you around!
GiGi Eats says
CHICKEN FRIGGIN’ SHAWARMA FOR THE WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!
Laura says
ATL’s shawarma game is strong. Just saying…
Debra Eliotseats says
I really think that Key Lime is an urban myth…
Laura says
Nope! We get cases of it every week! It’s really friggin’ good.
