Quick: Name your first pet and the street you grew up on.
That’s your stripper name.
My name is is Twinkle Dickerson… and these are my shoes:
For real – these are my shoes for the figure competition. They arrived yesterday and my doorman wouldn’t let me leave until he saw them. Apparently the thought of me walking in heels like this is entertaining to everyone except me. 🙂

In other Freakish-ly Friday news… (this is going to be most random post ever, btw.)
1. Protein Cereal
Who would have thought this existed? When I posted about my wish, you guys suggested I check out Kay’s Naturals. THANK YOU!!!
I’m digging the sample pack I ordered. The puffs were just “meh” but I am really liking the cereals and well as the pretzels so far.
Use discount code kays123 for 20% off your order!
2. My Veins
…look in freakishly pumped right after I lift. Does this happen to other people?!
Side freakish note: she the scar above my tattoo? The oven attacked me.
3. Lauren’s Lemon-Blueberry Pancakes
These are freakishly good. And the recipe can be used to make a protein microwave muffin that is also delish.
4. Current Veggie Roast Obsession
Cinnamon-roasted white veggies and protein dip. I originally did it with just parsnips here, but cauliflower is mighty tasty too, especially when dusted with cinnamon AND cocoa. Sounds freaky, but I swear by it.
5. Hump Day Blog Love
I freaked out when Calee told me she gave me some Hump Day love – in a good way.
I was so honored to be featured by my pixie Blend. If you don’t read her blog, you should. And you should check out her freakishly amazing zippy pouch creations.
***
I fully realize I’ve reverted back to middle school with the use of “freaking out.” Some days you just have to embrace your inner 13 year old.
What is your stripper name?
In the spirit of random: my mom wants to start doing some HIIT. Can anyone suggest some good beginner workouts?
Christina says
So excited for you! I totally get the veins when I lift – and, admittedly, I have a “favorite vein” that pops out when I lift that runs across my shoulder – I’ll have to photo and post after my next workout.
My stripper name would be Nana North Hill. I don’t think that one is too sexy, but it’ll have to do!
🙂 Keep pumping!
CB
Laura says
Nana North Hill isn’t bad! 🙂
Allie says
If your mom doesn’t mind watching ladies with large, fake breasts, the early videos on bodyrock.tv don’t involve all the fancy equipment and are fairly darn simple at-home and quick HIIT options, plus they are different on an almost daily basis, so it never feels like you’re in a doing-the-same-thing rut. I got my mom to do them for awhile, although I had to call and talk her into it each time 😀
Vena Brick School. That doesn’t sound so sexy. Let’s change that to my second pet and road… Zigmoot Sawmill. Nope, that one just sounds terrifying. I would NOT be giving Ms. Sawmill any dolla dolla bills…
And PROTEIN PRETZELS? Ohh, I’m going to click the site and cross my fingers that they’re vegan…
Allie says
SOY PROTEIN, OHHHHH SNAP. Yup, if we’re going grade school phrases, let’s go grade school phrases 😉
Laura says
My mom doesn’t need more boob-encouragement. LOL! 😉
Oh snap is right!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List says
hmm…I’m Brittany White. fancy.
Laura says
That’s very virginal. (Is that a word?)
Khushboo says
Haahah mine would be None Grosvenor…not too sexy at all! Ah your veins make me feel normal..I get them all the time in my legs after a lower body workout and let’s just say that Google only makes me unnecessarily paranoid! To start off, maybe your mom can try a walk/run program….the short bursts of running can help get raise her heart rate without her feeling too overwhelmed.
Laura says
You had a pet named None?! LOL! How did that come about?
Carrie says
Mmm…pancakes. I get super veiny too after working out. It makes you look badass! My stripper name is Pussywillow Gardiner. HOT!
Laura says
Pussywillow is a clear winner!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
How do you make the protein dip? It sounds good!!
Laura says
I linked back to the post with the explanation. 🙂
Danielle says
I am in love with Kay’s protein cereal! It is so great! I wish they sold it in stores!
Calee (@chimes) says
Awww thanks for the shoutout. Too bad my etsy shop is on vacation and I’m listing all my new stuff next week after renegade (if you want to mention that … haha).
Laura says
Awwww…. let me know next week and we’ll give you an revised shout out. 🙂
Parita says
Pebbles Dewey. Nice! Haha.
And maybe your mom can create her own tabata workouts – fun, simple, quick and effective!
Stacy @ Stacy Eats says
Hahaha Twinkle Dickerson, love it! I think that totally goes with those shoes and even sorta fits the guy who was hitting on you and calling you Tinkerbell!
My name would be Zelda Indigo. Ow ow!
Laura says
Zelda – LOVE it!
Laura says
I’m Snoopy Columbia. And I still find myself using “freaking out” sometimes, too. Check out those heels!!! This should be interesting…
Laura says
I love that you had a pet Snoopy!
Alayna @ Thyme Bombe says
This game doesn’t work for me, as I’d be White Snow Meow Point View. Not sexy.
Laura says
I disagree… I think that work perfectly. You’re like a high-end Vegas hooker with all those names!
Aparna B. (Mimi Woodmar) says
Mimi Woodmar doesn’t sound have as good as Twinkle Dickerson! Mine sounds pretty trashy in comparison. LOL. Can I also say I kind of giggled when I saw your pic on Instagram holding up that shoe with the look on your face. Classic. And P.S. I embrace my inner tween every Friday. haha.
Aparna B. (Mimi Woodmar) says
or HALF as good. Oy.
Alex @ therunwithin says
I love roasting vegetables and found this amazing unsweetened ketchup at whole foods making them like delicious fries. So good!
Laura says
I have never like ketchup… isn’t that weird?
Ashley @ Freckles & Spice says
I have a few bags of those kay’s cereals too! I grab them from this health food store in Syracuse when I go home to visit. I like the honey almond better than the french vanilla.
I like to stick to the basics for great beginner hiit. Big muscle group exercises and things like elliptical and treadmill. I think the less thought and least complicated easy to stick with.
There are definitely better things out there but here are some of my own:
Cardio only: http://frecklesandspice.com/2011/08/workout-wednesday-heart-pumping-sweaty-elliptical-routine/
Time Crunch Butt Kicker Circuit: http://frecklesandspice.com/2011/04/neurosciene-retreat-and-weekend-highlights/
Warm Up – 15 min on the Elliptical
Each of the following exercises 1 right
after the other; repeated 2x-3x
Squat Press – w/ 10 lbs dumbbells 12 reps
Treadmill Interval 1 min-very brisk run; 1 min jog
Plank Row – w/ 12.5 lb dumbbells 16 reps (8 ea side)
Jump Rope – 1 min
Diagonal Bicep curl – 10 lbs 24 reps alternating (12 ea side)
Treadmill Interval 1 min-very brisk run; 1 min jog
Tricep Dips – on bench 12 reps
Jump Rope – 1 min
2 Ab exercises of choice – stability ball crunches and 1 min plank
Happy Friday Twinkle!
Laura says
These are great – thank you!
I believe you forgot you name though? Hmmmm…?
Ashley @ Freckles & Spice says
Ahaha, ok mine is Sassy Palmer
Natalie @ FreshLifeFindings says
Ha loving the stripper name! Those shoes are KILLER! I’m sure you will rock them 🙂 I love HIIT training from Fitnessista. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Heather @ girlyeverafter says
My stripper name would be Dan Quayle, hahaha. I took one of those stipper workout classes once and everyone in the class had those heels too. I didn’t get any bc I was super broke but they are certainly a staple in the wardrobe!
Laura says
LOL! You have to be kidding.
lindsay says
i just finished eating that cereal with some banana and sheep’s milk yogurt. No lie. See, we are tastebuds twins. But definitely not shoe twins. LOL< i know, its for competition. Good luck walking in them.
stripper name? Oh gosh, Taffy Kingstree. Thats kinda kinky
Laura says
Apparently we are also blog commenting twins because I was commenting on your as you were commenting on mine. LOL!
You don’t want to borrow my shoes, Taffy? 😉
lindsay says
bahaha, yes, we are commenting twins. And no twinkle, you can keep your shoes. I”ll break my face wearing them.
Kristina says
Cinnamon Dreamsparkle. that’s me from the name generator.
from the old style “first pet and first street name” – I am Hansel Redwing. 😉
I love the shoes. maybe a video of the walking is in order?
cinnamon on cauliflower?? I WILL be trying this. and I am all about protein cereal – it is usually so crunchy, which is why I love it. if you have a surplus to use: http://spabettie.com/2012/04/10/apple-crunch-protein-bites/ YUM. 🙂
Laura says
AHHHH! That is a bangin’ stripper name.
I dunno about the video… maybe… 😉
THANK YOUfor that recipe I can’t wait to try it out. I haven’t opened the apple cinnamon yet.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Oh Twinkle, those shoes are awesome! I’m so excited for you!
We are also burn twins! I have one on my arm right now! I’m so scarred up from oven burns, Tony says I look like a cutter! Enjoy your weekend!
Laura says
That’s why I felt like I had to clarify – didn’t want people worrying. 🙂
julie says
i think blueberry & lemon are such an odd but workable combo! i bet they would be super tasty in turkey burgers – hmm now you’ve got me thinking haha. i also am REALLY obsessed with extra crispy roasted cauliflower! which i haven’t had in FOR-EV-ER. i think i need to make that happen tonight – crisping works best on the barbie!
Laura says
Good call on the turkey burgers… I want to do it in a tuna burger!
Carol @ Lucky Zucca says
This post had me cracking up! Just what I needed today! That is a pretty sweet stripper name you have. Mine sounds like a dood. King Parkstone?
Laura says
LOL! You have a pimp name.
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli says
Wow, I had no idea Lauren’s pancake recipe would make that much! Those things are huge! (totally appropriate for this post…TWSS!) I’ve made the muffin version but I’ve yet to try them as pancakes…now they’re on the list! So glad you like the Kay’s products…I knew you would! I’m gonna have to check out the pretzels for sure!
I did notice the veins in my wrist and inner elbow area were popping during today’s workout, but NOTHING like yours! Dude, that is NICE!
Nothing beats the sweetness of a perfectly roasted parsnip! And I LOVE them with cinnamon, but I’ll have to it with protein dip! Mmm!
Omg, those shoes are awesome…and also really scary! And your stripper name totally works! Haha! I can’t remember the name of my FIRST pet, so I’ll just go with one I can remember….so that would make me Sparky Mountainwood! What’s with us and our phallic street names?! Bahahaha!
Laura says
SPARKY??? That is a winner. You should have lots of extra income with a name like that. 😉
Rachel @ My Naturally Frugal Family says
Where does one start with this post 🙂
The picture of you and the shoes: Funny
The viens: a little scary, but hey it shows you have been working hard for the money (or something like that)
The stripper names have been hilarious to read, my not so exciting Tux Oakwood…but hey they can’t all be winners.
Now you just need to break in the stripper shoes so you don’t kill yourself in your first competition.
BTW why plastic for the shoe?
Laura says
No idea… maybe so as not to distract from the muscles and the sparkly suit?
Allie says
I’ve always heard the stripper name thing as your middle name and your street name LOL. I would be Kristine Chapparal. Sexaaay.
I like the shoes 😉
Lisa says
Ha ha. The veins definitely happen when you have super low body fat. Just one of the fun things about building muscle and burning fat.
I love the picture with your shoes, too cute!
My stripper name would be Scruffy Walema. Ummm that’s a creepy stripper name.
Kammie says
Hhaha that is kinda creepy!
Laura says
Ha! Scruffy sounds like a stripper who’s been around the block… 😉
RavieNomNoms says
YAY!! I cannot believe how amazing all this is going for you. So exciting. I can’t wait to see everything when you are done and all. Those veins…holy cow!!
My name…Smokey Reeds…..BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Laura says
Thank you!!!
That’s a total pimp name. 🙂
Kammie says
My stripper name would be polish so none of you guys would understand it haha but it’s not that funny. Or maybe? To translate, it would be something like “Purrer (as in someone who purrs, aka my first cat lol) independence.”
Kinda weid. Haha.
Your arms are amazing. I can’t wait to see your pics fom the competition when it’s time!
Laura says
I think that makes it even funnier! 🙂
Brittany says
Those are some awesome veins! I get ‘freakishly’ veiny as well and I get made fun of all the time by my family when I return home, LOL.
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables says
Lol… MIne would be Lady Cannon. That is just weird. I know Blogilates.com has some HIIT cardio workouts. They are pretty good!
Laura says
Why am I not surprised your name is so classy? 🙂
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Worst stripper name ever – Fido Harrison! Who would want to watch that???
I just posted a HIIT workout today. It’s a little advanced but modifications can be made to lower the intensity.
Laura says
Bwhahahah! Ok, that is pretty bad. 🙂
Tessa @ Amazing Asset says
I already told you my stripper name, Midnight Barrington, sexy to say the very least 😉 I was literally lol at that! I get crazy veins too, shows your working hard Laura!
Laura says
A very regal name. 🙂
Hayley @ Oat Couture says
Haha Ellie St Quinten… Thats no good!! I sound like a posh stripper from Chelsea! :/ An oxymoron if ever there was one! Ha!
Laura says
You are SO posh! 😉
Lee says
I told you this on Facebook, but mine is Ginger Split Rock.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets says
Love the shoes. I would actually just wear those out for a normal night. The pancakes look amazing too. I would eat them while wearing the new shoes.
Laura says
LOL! Comment of the day. I’m going to put my shoes on when I eat pancakes next.
Tiffany says
I Want Those Pancakes! LOL! YUM… and stripper name?!??!?! Hmmmmm, I’ll have to think about that one! 😀 Hugs chica and have a great weekend!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
So I would be Josh Monnier…. okay….
It’s funny- half the time I forget I even made a recipe until someone links back to it. And then I’m like- oh I need to make those again!
I don’t have any oven scars, but I do have one from the iron. it’s right on my bicep- and I got it the day after my wedding when I was ironing a shirt to take on our mini honeymoon right after. I wish it would go away!
Laura says
That was such a good one! did you ever try them a microwave muffins? Awesome midnight snack.
karina says
I love asking people what their “stripper name” is. Yours is great….it actually works/flows. Mine is “Nala Bittinger” …..not the best haha Also nothing wrong with saying freaking out. Like you said, sometimes its just necessary. Example-I don’t know whether to freak out or admire myself when my veins show while I’m lifting….
Laura says
I love Nala!!!
Nadiya says
Woaaah! Nice heels 0.0 I never actually realized that people wore heels for figure competitions. What do the guys wear? Please don’t tell me it’s heels as well 😛
Laura says
They get to go barefoot! So do the females in the body builder category. I guess they would look funny in heels, but NOT FAIR!
Marla-Deen says
Forget the heels! Your biceps rock! Go girl!
Laura says
That’s a huge compliment coming from you – thank you!!!
Mary Legare Whaley says
My name would be Daisy Wentworth. I remember the episode of Will & Grace (my favorite show ever) when Karen and Jack talked about their stripper names. Karen’s was funny: Shu-Shu Fontana, but poor Jack’s was Glen 125th. Haha!! Love it. Good for your mom! I wish my mom was so gung-ho. Mine criticizes my dedication to competition. You are very lucky to have a mom who admires your efforts. She rocks!
Laura says
My fav was when she told her her name was Anastasia Beaverhousen. That was my trivia name for years. 🙂
Your Trainer says
Rascal Monticello. Anyway, a video will happen in the future, she will look incredible, confident, and statuesque. And even though I will be teaching her how to pose, I will not be donning the heels.
Laura says
Why am I not surprised you name would be Rascal? 😉
Thank you… there will be more treats for you tonight! I snagged a couple leftovers.
Holly says
I’m so glad you showed that photo of your arms after your workout. That happens to me after running sometimes and I thought that meant something was wrong.
My stripper name is Cassiopeia Sansome. Not exactly sexy…
Laura says
That always happened to me after running too – even in my legs if it was really hot outside!
Parsley Sage says
Kali Liveoak has workout pumping-vein envy. You’re such a badass! I was doing some extra resistance training after spinning on Saturday morning and I swear I was channelling my inner Laura…even if she was only 13 🙂
Laura says
Awwww! That’s awesome you stayed after spinning. It used to wear me OUT!
Leanne @ eatandgetmoving says
Tiny Sarah Anemone :p haha lol
BTW; I’ve been doing push-ups every night now since the 1st of September – I want to be able to do 3x 11 on my birthday (16th of November) .. I started on the 1st only being able to do 3x 2; now it’s 3x 4 🙂 Thanks for inspiring!
Laura says
Go Leanne!!! That’s awesome progress in a short amount of time. Please let me know when you hit your birthday goal!!! 🙂
Laura @ LauraLivesLife says
I moved 18 times so I don’t have a street I grew up on, but the one I can remember is Ronglyn, so my stripper name is Pepper Ronglyn. Which I love. I might start a new blog under that pseudonym!
Love the shoes lady – when is your competition?
Laura says
That is a great name! You should name your first born Pepper Ronglyn.
I’m *hoping* November. Gotta bulk up some more first!
Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles says
I love that your doorman insisted on seeing your shoes! I ate roasted cauliflower for lunch and it would have tasted MUCH better with cinammon and cocoa– good idea!
خرید کریو says
very nice
