It’s been an eventful week!
Despite my lack of blogging.
I revived an old tradition and ran the Peachtree Roadrace 10K on the 4th of July. About 3 miles in, I discovered that I’d rather run in heat than humidity. It wasn’t terribly hot (maybe 80?), but the heavy, wet air made for a painful last half of the race.
Friday was 10 years since my dad died. My mom decided to treat my sisters and me to a weekend away. I got to go trail running for the first time in… errrrr… probably 2 years?! It had just rained and this baby waterfall was a gorgeous find.
We had quite the adventures roaming the little community on the golf cart. My sisters should be trusted to drive.
Mom one-upped my cheeseboard game, as per usual (last pic below). Those prosciutto-wrapped peaches were the jam. One day I’ll reach her level of game.

Back home this week I’ve been depending on work for meals, but I did manage to get dinner prepped just in time for #WIAW.
Be sure to link up to Jenn’s WIAW baby at the bottom!
Breakfast:
As always, I made my morning cocktail before walking to work.
I had good intentions of trying intermittent fasting… but then I got hungry. La Croix and a Pure Protein bar = breakfast of champions!
Lunch:
Lunch was provided by work. Today was shawarma – chicken and beef. The tahini sauce they bring with it is money.
Snack:
Snacks aren’t pictured, but I had the agitated munchies. I snacked on some string cheese, Pop Chips, and a fun-sized Almond Joy throughout the afternoon. Happens…
Then I had a glass of wine with my manicure and pedicure after work. I never get my nails done, but it’s birthday week. 🙂
Dinner:
Dinner was my one homecooked dish. I made an easy ground turkey dish that’s become a staple. I just sautee whatever veggies I have in the fridge with some olive oil (this time was mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and garlic). That goes to a plate and I brown the ground turkey, mixing in 2 tsp of ground turmeric, 1/2 tsp cumin, and a big pinch of cayenne, salt, and pepper. Toss the veggies back in to warm and it’s done!
Last night I had it over spinach and asparagus. It’s also tasty stuffed in a sweet potato.
There miiiiiight have been some chocolate consumed while writing this and packing.

One more day until the birthday trip commences. Vegas is taking me to Sonoma and then Lake Tahoe!
Would you rather run in humidity or heat?
Do you like a glass of wine with your mani/pedi?

I choose heat over humidity any day. Last week was so humid and hot in CT, it broke over the weekend but we are bake to it this week. Looks like you had a great trip with the family!

I absolutely love that you all got together to honor your dad! Just amazing. My dad and brother and I have a similar tradition at Christmas and it’s one of my most treasured days.
I also love that you ran the Peachtree Road Race!!! So cool!!…or er, um humid but you know what I mean.
And those boards??? OMG I could live on boards alone…if your mom made all of them…clearly. Wow!

I had some friends who ran that race and said it was brutally humid. One thing I learned about living in the south for 20 yrs. Running in humid weather sucks. Now in the Midwest is a bit better. Your food always looks and sounds so yummy (yes, I visit even if I don’t comment much) 🙂 And now you are making me miss shawarma!

I have always wanted to run the Peachtree 10k!

Seems like a nice way to honor your dad together. You and your sisters looks alike-all beauties. I would rather run in neither heat nor humidity 🙂

That trip with your mum and sisters sounds like heaven. Now my poor mum can’t cook, but she is amazing at picking up the best snacks and can make quite a spread on a board!
I’m all about the tumeric love right now and we actually bought some fresh tumeric from our farmers market. I grate it into a pan, sautéed it in some ghee and then add whatever I want to cook, like eggs. So much depth of flavour.
And yay yay yay for trip with Vegas!!! I bet both of you just can’t wait to spend some solid time together!

Your girls weekend looked so fun! What a nice way to pay tribute to your dad, all spending quality time together. And your mom’s snack board was impressive looking!

i need to remember that tip to cook whatever veggies i have leftover with some ground meat. i’m still over-buying a little bit and getting left with yellowing veggies. cook it down and maybe i won’t notice a thing! looks like a fun week with family!
