My struggle with furniture seems to be never-ending.
I think I’m winning though.
I almost skipped another WIAW because I was putting shelves together (see above). It wasn’t terribly hard, it was just time-consuming. Don’t even think of asking me how I wedged both sets of shelves in that closet. Let’s just say they are never coming back out.
Today is a big day though. Vegas is coming!!! It’s just to visit, but we haven’t seen each other in just over a month, which is longer than we’ve ever been apart. I love my job, but it’s going to make for a long day at work!
I did go grocery shopping, but I’ve been too busy to cook more than I did in Monday’s post. So here’s another lazy WIAW.
Be sure to link up to Jenn’s WIAW baby at the bottom!
Breakfast:
I made my solo morning cocktail and headed out to work. Walking was even more awesome than usual when I saw the traffic created by a street closure. The closure was caused by a giant metal piece of art that flew off the side of a building in the storm Monday night. It landed a block down the street in the front of a Starbucks. #onlyinATL
Back to food. I’m making a habit of having a protein shake at the office for breakfast. Today I added string cheese, which I’ve become oddly addicted to for the first time since 5th grade.
Lunch:
Wednesday is one of our catered lunches at work. Todays was awesome – bahn mi bar! Complete with Korean pancakes, which make me so happy. I had mine deconstructed.
Plus La Croix. It’s so popular at our office that someone sent a Slack message warning everyone that it was running low but more was on the way.
Snack:
The office snack fairy stocked the kitchen with Kirkland’s version of a Quest bar. I think I actually like it better than Quest bars!
Dinner:
Dinner was brinner. Scrambled eggs with veggies and nutritional yeast. Extra sriracha. Quick and easy so I could get started on the shelves!

Not going to lie – having Vegas coming motived some serious productivity with cleaning and shelf-building.
When was the last time you ate string cheese?
Are you good at constructing furniture? I’m not sure it’s a good thing that Vegas now knows I am… 😉
Patrick@looneyforfood.com says
Your work lunches are looking pretty awesome! That looked like a very entertaining walk to work with the road closure!! Enjoy Vegas coming and good luck with future furniture. LOL
Laura says
I’m super lucky. Thi week has been the best yet!
Jess @ Jessica Cording Nutrition says
Putting together furniture always makes me feel like such a badass. Those look great!
Love you brinner too—I haven’t made that in forever.
Laura says
Thanks! I was really happy with the dresser. Good thing, because it took FOREVER! 😉
Cora says
And now I want to go find myself some string cheese! I LOVED that stuff as a kid. You had to pull the strings apart though….. never tasted the same if you just bit it.
Laura says
Yessss! Biting into it is sacrilege.
Allie says
Vegas is coming and it’s my birthday! Is this the best day ever? Probably!
Have fun celebrating…I know I will 🙂
Laura says
LOL! It really WAS the best day ever! Happy belated!!!
Kate says
I’m glad you get to see your wife! I’ve done the long distance thing, and it was hard – and we weren’t even married at the time!
Laura says
We did it before we got married and it was rough then… I think it’s harder now!
Elizabeth at Reserved for Running says
Ok, seriously….first you have Korean BBQ and then Korean pancakes?! I love the pancakes especially the kimchi ones and the seafood pancakes are delicious!
Laura says
I’ve been really lucky with food lately!
Anne Murphy says
So your post reminds me of Rich removing shelves from the broom closet he turned into a pantry… You’re right, they’re never coming out of there! LOL
Enjoy your time with Vegas – so needed!
Laura says
I already warned our landlady – LOL!
Deborah Brooks says
hmm no idea on the string cheese but my kids eat it still. I am so not good at putting things together! Enjoy your reunion 🙂
Mary says
Wow, you put together shelves? Good job Laura 🙂 I’m so proud of you and am really enjoying this new adventure. You are totally winning. You new job rocks!!!!!! Such tasty food. I need to try nutritional yeast again, I’ve had it before but I didn’t try it again.
Laura says
The dresser was the hardest… especially after I dropped the biggest piece on my foot. LOL!
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness says
I can’t believe it’s already been a month!! Have fun spending time with your wifey.
And a few years ago I got the string cheese train for a month or two haha but I haven’t had it since!
Laura says
It’s going so fast and so slow, all at once. I’m really glad we’re so busy at work!
Lindsay says
Don’t tell James but I think you’re more handy then him. 😆 bro, you should start a handy woman blog l🙌
Enjoy that reunited time with Vegas!
Laura says
HAHAHA! I don’t want Vegas to think I’m THAT handy. I’ll never get her to do stuff for me again! 😉
Joann @ Woman in Real Life says
I want an office snack fairy! Except I work from home…so I guess that’s me! haha Your shelves look great – very handy for storage!
Laura says
The Snack Fairy is definitely a big perk! Though I was a pretty good snacker working from home too. 😉
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets says
Confession: I love putting furniture together. It’s a stress relief for me. 🙂
Laura says
Dammit. I should have waited until May!!! 😉
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
String cheese is the perfect snack. I like that it is portion control. Give me a block a cheese and I have a tendency to eat half of it…haha.
Laura says
Same here! I need to just be given the one stick.
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape says
Oh god I haven’t had string cheese in ages. Actually my favourite used to be this Edam that came on a stick… So good and total blast from the past! I wonder if they still make it anymore…
Always good to be handy. In my house I am the handy one… David has been known to put a few drawers and panels on back to front or upside down. Bless, he does try!
Laura says
I have never eaten Edam on a stick… but now I want to!
