Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is a 40 of Miller High Life. I had to use both hands in order to pick it up and drink it.
Why was I drinking a 40? When in Rome…
I had to have it with my pizza! Specifically, with my Antico Pizza (1093 Hemphill Ave., Atlanta, GA 30318). This is the best pizza ever made by man.
The Pomodorini was the pizza of choice. This pie is topped with cherry tomatoes, bufala, garlic, and basil. Many things make Antico amazing, but a few in particular:
- The char on the crust is the perfect crunch balance to the chewy dough. This is homemade pie is cooked in a brick oven (made in Naples, of course).
- They have fresh bufala mozzarella shipped from Italy weekly. I would eat it on its own (while crouching in the back hoping no one noticed).
- The chef/owner’s name is Giovanni Di Palma. I think that adds something to the authenticity.
Everything (see point #1 about the imported oven) is straight from Italy. My pizza-loving partner-in-crime had never experienced this glory before and declared it “better than Fellini’s.” (I know… duh.)
Speaking of going local… Antico is in the transitional neighborhood of West Midtown and they do not have a liquor license. In the spirit of keeping it local, we trekked down the street to buy our gas station 40s. Don’t be scared. (The BP sells pepper spray.)
Enjoy your pie in the Italian haven of authentic Atlanta.
[…] Pizza isn’t something to be lazy about! It must be the good, authentic Italian variety. If I’m feeling lazy I get it to go (they don’t deliver) from Antico Pizza. […]
