Happy Halloween Friday!
In the spirit of The Great Pumpkin/Halloween (and the fact that I’m up to ears in work), here are some of my favorite orange food creations (click the image or title for the recipe!):
Orange for the A.M.
Orange for the P.M.
Butternut Squash Drop Biscuits
Indian-Spiced Butternut Squash and Caramelized Onions
Lentil-Stuffed Acorn Squash (ok, I realize it’s more yellow… but go with it…)
If I had just one orange item to make this Halloween weekend… I’d make the following soup. It’s one of my Top 5 Favorite Creations. That’s including desserts.
Searching past recipes to write this, I realized I don’t make many orange desserts. My friends do though! Check out some of these awesome treats from the blog-world:
- Sweet Potato Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting (by Ari @ The Diva Dish)
- Sweet Potato Cookies – vegan and gluten-free! (by Lisa @ Healthful Sense)
- Pumpkin Bread with Booze and Chocolate (by Katherine @ Rufus’ Food and Spirits Guide)
- Pumpkin Goo(p) (by Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen)
- Baked Oranges in Vanilla Rum Cream (by Kelly @ Inspired Edibles)

I just realized almost everything I ate yesterday was unintentionally orange. Creepy.
What are some of your favorite orange/Halloween creations?
Who is doing something fun this weekend? Tell me about it so I can live vicariously!

Im going to a Halloween party tonight. I don’t know anyone (it’s one of Jason’s co-workers), so I’m not exactly sure if that counts as fun. The race will be fun, in a painful sort of way.

Sweet Potato Greek Yogurt! Whoa! I’m very curious about this! I’m sorry you’re too busy to enjoy the Halloweening fun 🙁 I’m putting the finishing touches on our costumes tonight before the big party at Treasure Island on Saturday. Woo hoo!
Buzzed!

We were invited to a spontaneous birthday party tonight that requires costumes, so I’ll just whip out my Dirndl and “disguise” as a German. We made meringues for it, with orange food coloring and black sprinkles! Not the prettiest shapes, but nicely Halloween-themed and delicious.
Laura says
Ohhhh… love the meringues idea! Hope it was fun!

I was JUST thinking about my Pumpkin Goo(p) this morning and wondering about making it vegan…it was SO amazing…
Laura says
Do it!!!! I’m scared to make it because I’m just going to devour it all in one sitting. LOL!

Everything looks amazing!! I have just realised that pretty much the first really orange dish I have ever made (apart from carrot soup) was last nights moroccan style stuffed pumpkin! My new fave!! 🙂 Good luck with all your work, if it makes you feel any better I’m doing two fifths of f$%! all as well this weekend! Lets unite in our misery! Ha!

I will be trick-of-treating with the kids tonight, which is always fun (they are 9, 4, and 2). I don’t have a favorite treat but I like just about anything with sweet potato in it 🙂
