Sometimes there’s no shame in staying in bed half the day.
Especially when the last couple of weeks have been chaos!
Last Monday I depicted pre-conference life. Â This Monday is recovery life. Â Marvelous recovery. Â Recovery life started with sleep. Â Since I couldn’t take pictures of that, we’ll pick up with the wakeful part of the weekend.

I biked my errands and got it done MUCH faster (and happier) than I would have in a car during rush hour.

One of my errands was to Target to pick up a certain gum. Yes, it’s good. No, the flavor doesn’t last more than 2 mins.

I went to see one of my favorite artists, Amy Ray. Her new album is old school country – just the soulful mellow I needed!

The next morning my favorite pump up song came on the radio on my drive to the gym. I’ve got the biggest balls of them all.
I think the song inspired these hanging clean and presses. Â (I have no idea where that super-country accent came from. Â I blame Amy Ray.)

It makes my day when someone makes one of my recipes. Kaci made Friday’s #strangebutgood waffles. (Pssssst… go back to the post and check out the Quest balls she linked up!)

I discovered you can spiralize raw beets. That was pretty awesome.

I went on a run (the first since my ankle sprain!) and discovered a birdhouse free library.

4 miles later, I was covered in sweat… but shamelessly had a Skype-date Lucie. It’s a wonder she couldn’t smell me from Switzerland!
Sweet Potato Pie Waffles
- 1/4 cup raw rolled oats
- 1/3 scoop vanilla protein (I used 11g Growing Naturals)
- 1/2 T coconut flour
- 50g sweet potato (cooked)
- 1/2 C egg whites
- 1 tsp pumpkin spice
- 1/4 tsp baking powder

I’m back to work this week… this means fewer waffles. *insert look of horror*

I tried to sleep in this morning, but my dogs weren’t having it. Between “arguing” with each other, my Dalmatian was standing at the foot of the bed making this moaning sound (I think in dog speak she was saying “get out of bed you lazy human!”).

Those flavoured gums are the best…I brought a tonne back with me then saw them in speciality shops here.

I NEED those waffles!! Usually after a big event I go for a spa day, or at least a massage. All that pent up stress always shows up in my shoulders and upper back. It’s the best ever! That, and a lot of Netflix and couch time 😉

I am SO glad you’re running again! That means the sprain must be healing (or healed) for the most part. We have one of those little free libraries in residential downtown Charleston. It’s down the street from my parents’ house. It’s SO cute. I didn’t know it was a bigger thing. The waffles are killing me…I might have to get a waffle maker now. Your recipes sound sooo good. I unwind with wine. And a bubble bath. My current pump up jam is Queen’s – “Don’t Stop Me Now”. Not a new groove, but it’s rediscovered.
I could go for wine and bubble bath right now. With a Queen or two. 😉
